Fable Reboot’s Main Story Is About 20 Hours Long, Dev Says

The upcoming Fable reboot from developer Playground Games will have a main story that should take about 15-20 hours to complete, the developers have stated. However, as with any game, your mileage may vary, and Playground believes the new Fable game can be played forever if players want to.

Associate game director Will Kennedy told Polygon, "We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay." He added that the game has another 15-20 hours worth of "side and open-world exploration content gameplay."

"And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want," he added.

Associate game director Craig Littler, meanwhile, added, "You can literally play it forever if that's what you want to do."

The Fable reboot launches in February 2027. It was originally scheduled to launch in 2026, but Playground delayed it to 2027 to avoid a "chaotic window," and we all know that means GTA 6.

Gameplay combat footage from Fable emerged online recently from Gamescom, and it looked rough, but GameSpot’s own hands-on time with the game told a different story.

Fable launches February 23, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
