IIP growth at 6.7% in July, compared with 8.8% in June under new series

India's industrial output grew 6.7% year-on-year in July, government data showed on Friday. This compares with growth of 8.8% in June. The headline Index of Industrial Production (IIP) stood at 124.8 in June, up from 117 a year earlier. The growth of four broad sectors — mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity and gas supply, and water supply, sewerage and waste management stand at 94.4, 127.4, 133.5 and 148.4 respectively. In the manufacturing sector, 19 of 23 industry groups recorded growth in July 2026 compared with July 2025. The top contributors were motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (22.2%), electrical equipment (28.3%), and machinery and equipment (12.1%).
