BYD confirmed the new Denza N8 has a “world-leading” pure electric CLTC range of 1,003 km (623 miles), and it can recharge in as little as 5 minutes.
The Denza N8 first went on sale in China in 2023, a mid-to-large size luxury SUV. It was initially available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a combined CLTC range of 1,003 km (623 miles) on a full charge and full tank of fuel.
The PHEV version was sold in six and seven-seat configurations, but discontinued after less than a year due to sluggish sales.
For the new model, BYD is upgrading it with an all-electric powertrain, and its latest batteries, charging, and other related vehicle components.
Denza confirmed that the new N8, or “the kind of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles,” as it calls it, will be equipped with BYD’s latest Blade Batteries 2.0, providing “a world-leading 1,003 km pure electric range.” That’s just as much as the discontinued plug-in hybrid version.
It will also be equipped with BYD’s Flash Charging technology, enabling it to recharge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes. For a full recharge, or to go from 10% to 97%, it takes just nine minutes.
While no specs were revealed, the new Denza N8 appeared in the batch of new energy vehicles approved for sale by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) last week, revealing a few key details.
According to the filing, the new Denza N8 EV measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm.
