UPDATE: CDPR confirms nine developers have been laid off, and a further nine have been invited to apply for redeployment

Update: August 12, 7.15pm: CD Projekt has now confirmed that 18 developers previously working on Project Sirius have either been made redundant or "invited" to apply for redeployment oppportunities.

In a statement to IGN, the studio said: "We adjusted the size of the Sirius team to reflect the project's needs at this stage of development.

"As a result, four people in Boston and five in Warsaw are leaving the company, while nine others have been invited to internal recruitment processes for potential roles on other CD Projekt Red projects."

IGN posits that as of April 30, around 83 people were working on the multiplayer game. It's thought that number is now closer to 60 – that's a drop of around 28%.

Original story, August 12, 2026: CD Projekt Red's Witcher multiplayer game, known internally as Project Sirius, has suffered another round of layoffs.

According to a new report from Kotaku, nine people were let go from the Project Sirius team, with a further nine moved to other projects within the studio as part of a broader shift in development strategy.

CD Projekt Red had not responded to press requests for comment at the time of writing.

Project Sirius was announced in October 2022 as a co-op and single-player Witcher spin-off developed by The Molasses Flood, the Boston studio CDPR acquired in 2021. The project was rescoped in 2023 alongside a round of 29 layoffs .
