Pokemon GO Players Can Get Special Pokemon For Free, But There's a Catch

Pokemon GO is giving away a free new costumed Pikachu and a limited Tinkaton to celebrate Pokemon Worlds 2026 and PokemonXP. The rewards will also include useful Pokemon GO items and cosmetics, but players will need to follow a series of steps to claim them.

Pokemon GO's ongoing 10th anniversary season, Forever Forward, has been full of rewarding events for players. Following the GO Fest Global weekend, which granted fans a free Zeraora, Pokemon GO gifted players a perfect Mega Mewtwo Y along with a Master Ball. Now, the game is commemorating another major real-life event with plenty of in-game gifts, including yet another one-of-a-kind World Champion Pokemon.

Developer Scopely Explore surprises fans by quietly removing a pricey paywall that has been part of Pokemon GO for several years.

Pokemon GO has announced several free gifts for all players who watch official Pokemon Worlds 2026 livestreams on Twitch. Depending on watch times, fans will access different rewards. To claim the in-game bonuses, players will first have to link their Twitch account to their Pokemon Trainer Central account. Then, they can tune in to Pokemon GO 's Twitch channel on Day 3 of the competition, meaning August 28 and 29, to unlock Twitch drops. Watching 30 minutes unlocks Timed Research to create a team with Lickitung, Totodile, and Paldean Wooper. Moreover, watching 60 minutes rewards Timed Research that grants a unique Tinkaton with the same stats as 2025 Pokemon GO World Champion Ved "Beelzeboy" Bamb's winning Pokemon. This also grants a free Pokemon GO Elite Charged TM , an incredibly useful item to strengthen Pokemon.
