One Piece Creator Oda Drops A Big Update About Series Ending

On July 18, 1997, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #34, Eiichiro Oda's One Piece began its serialization and has since continued incredibly strongly. Right now, One Piece is in its Elbaf arc, with its latest chapter having been published on August 23, 2026. With each passing chapter, the One Piece series heads closer to the end of the Elbaf arc and, at the same time, the end of the series as well.

For years, Eiichiro Oda has made it clear that One Piece is now in its endgame and will not run for that much longer. Now, however, we finally have an update from the author himself concerning the conclusion of the series, and it came through One Piece Day 2026, which was officially held on August 23, 2026. Through this event, Eiichiro Oda himself confirmed that One Piece will run longer than four years and that there is still a lot of content to come.

On August 22, 2026, One Piece held its biggest yearly event to celebrate the anniversary of the manga. During this event, it was officially confirmed that One Piece is getting two massive projects in the form of movies. The first One Piece movie is One Piece Film: God Valley, which is set to be released in the summer of 2027 . This movie is going to cover the God Valley Incident, which has already been illustrated in the manga, but the more intriguing project is the movie that is set for a 2029 release.
