Exodus, The New Sci-Fi RPG From Former BioWare Devs, Finally Gets A Launch Date

Archetype Entertainment has just given players another glimpse of its upcoming third-person sci-fi RPG, Exodus, via a new trailer revealed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony. Even better, the trailer ended with a release date announcement: Exodus is set to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on April 7.

Exodus' new cinematic gameplay trailer introduces Salt, a companion character who joins the player's party as a skilled mercenary with expertise in long-range sniping. But Salt's most striking feature isn't her prowess in battle—it's the fact that she's a talking octopus who pilots an oversized mech suit.

Salt is an Awakened—a special type of animal that can communicate with humans—and can easily keep up with Exodus' player-character, Jun Aslan, in combat. In the new trailer, Jun and Salt join forces with Emrys (a member of a mysterious hivemind-like species called the Deva) to take on enemies. Emrys can be seen draining power from enemy combatants and transforming it into protection for Jun and Salt, while Salt can be seen deploying inky smokescreens that allow her to reposition herself easily. Together, the trio defeat their attackers, but face a greater enemy: Time. Exodus features Interstellar-style time dilation. A few years in space for Salt is equal to 87 years away from her home planet. In Exodus, players must make decisions that will affect humanity for generations to come.
