Generali Central Life targets 30-35% growth; eyes ₹500 crore annual business from Central Bank: Alok Rungta
In an interview with ETBFSI, Alok Rungta, MD & CEO, Generali Central Life Insurance said the company has seen over 100% growth in the past year and expects to sustain 30-35% new business growth, with Central Bank’s 4,500-branch network providing significant headroom.
Generali Central Life Insurance is targeting 30-35% growth in new business, with the company expecting its expanded Central Bank partnership to emerge as a key growth engine. In an interview with ETBFSI, Alok Rungta , MD & CEO, Generali Central Life Insurance , said the insurer could reach ₹500 crore of annual business from the Central Bank in three years. Rungta also backed a more differentiated approach to insurance distribution commissions , arguing that payouts should reflect the effort involved, as well as the quality and persistency of business. He said term insurance costs have already fallen significantly following the GST changes, while the company is looking to increase protection's contribution to its business mix to 5% from around 3%. The company has already seen significant growth following its new branding, legal entity and expanded bancassurance partnership . Rungta said Generali Central Life grew by more than 100% over the last year, while its business for the April-June quarter grew 130%. The insurer closed FY25-26 with business of around ₹964 crore, compared with about ₹494 crore the previous year. The Central Bank partnership is expected to further expand the insurer's distribution footprint.
