ESAF SFB to go live with Credit Line on UPI by Q1 FY28; taps Euronet

Thrissur based ESAF Small Finance Bank is targeting Q1 FY28 to go live with Credit Line on UPI , Executive Director George Kalaparambil John told ETBFSI. The bank has tapped Euronet Worldwide for the Credit Line on UPI rollout, John said, adding that the initiative is being built alongside ESAF's broader technology transformation. "We are targeting to go live with Credit Line on UPI by Q1 FY28. We have already tapped Euronet Worldwide for the same," John said. The bank's ongoing technology migration is expected to conclude by Q3 FY27 and remains a key priority for ESAF. The migration is also expected to provide the technology foundation for the UPI-linked credit product. Advt "Technology migration is a priority for us, and we are targeting its completion by Q3 FY27," John said. ESAF will join a growing but still nascent group of SFBs entering the Credit Line on UPI. Suryoday Small Finance Bank was among the early SFBs to launch the product, partnering with Paytm for its Credit Line on UPI offering in September 2025. Jana Small Finance Bank has also gone live with CLOU in partnership with Falcon. Slice Small Finance Bank also offers Credit Line on UPI through its digital platform. ESAF, however, is yet to finalise the ticket size and interest rate for the proposed credit line product. "We have not yet finalised the ticket size or the interest rate for the product," John said. The Reserve Bank of India initially enabled pre-sanctioned credit lines as a funding account on UPI in September 2023, but the framework at the time excluded small finance banks , payments banks and regional rural banks.
