'The Witcher 3' New DLC Gameplay Trailer Marks The End of an Era For The Epic RPG

CD Projekt Red gave fans a tease of what to expect from Witcher 3 DLC, Songs From The Past

After announcing a new remastered version of the game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red gave fans a better look at the iconic RPG's upcoming DLC at Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase. Songs of the Past is The Witcher 3's last hurrah — and an end to a spectacular 11-year run.

The new trailer teased a few of the mythical creatures that Geralt will hunt, as well as the new weapons he'll use to dispose of them. Geralt has new toys, including a hookshot-like weapon that harks back to the first game in the trilogy. To get folks ready for the new DLC, both of the RPG's major expansions are now totally free to play. The developers also said that Songs of the Past is Geralt's last adventure before passing on the torch to Ciri. The hope is that the last DLC will ensure that Geralt goes out with a bang.

The DLC will take place in an entirely new region full of new quests and monsters, the developers tease. There's a dark secret lurking underneath the secret, which, naturally, Geralt will uncover. There still isn't a specific release date for Songs of the Past, unfortunately.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3 defined a generation of RPGs with its rich world and gruff monster hunter, Geralt. Over the years, the open-world game received 16 pieces of DLC and two massive expansions.
