Path of Exile 2 is getting its 1.0 update after 2 years in early access and swords are coming

Grinding Gear Games has officially set a release date for Path of Exile 2's 1.0 update, with the ARPG finally leaving early access on December 11, right about two years after its initial launch. As expected, the game will be completely free-to-play on all platforms when 1.0 comes out, ditching its current $30 price tag.

GGG took the stage during this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live to reveal a new release date trailer for Path of Exile 1.0, and it shows off brand-new sword-based gameplay that the studio confirmed is from the new Duelist class coming in 1.0.

The wait is almost over. Path of Exile 2 fully releases on December 11 PST.Ready your swords, Exile. Your greatest battle is about to begin. ⚔️Sign up for exclusive rewards and learn more here: https://t.co/9JvrivcVMb pic.twitter.com/JPwLKJGodXAugust 25, 2026
