Today, during Gamescom Opening Night Live, Disney Illusion Island developer Dlala Studios introduced its next game: Murals, which puts a new spin on some classic childhood stories, and will launch on PC in 2027.
Murals is an isometric action-adventure game set within multiple famous fairy tales, including Hansel and Gretel, The Little Mermaid, and Rapunzel, but not the way you might remember them. Rapunzel's hair, for example, is actively trying to kill her, while "Sleeping Beauty" is suffering from insomnia and hasn't slept in weeks.
Players will control a nameless hero as they fight through these twisted fairy tales with help from Eeries, which the game describes as "mystical, slightly very haunted, doo-dads and whatchamacallits" that enhance the hero's abilities.
Some Eeries enhance the hero's weapon, like Strength In Misery's ability to deal more damage to enemies with status effects, while others affect the hero themselves, like Thorny's passive ability to sometimes damage any attacking enemy that hurts the hero.
Murals, which is developed and published by Dlala, is the studio's first original IP in over a decade. Its most recent projects include Battletoads and 2023's Disney Illusion Island..
