On Friday, Lifeweaver, Overwatch’s life-gripping, flower-slinging, petal-lifting support hero disappeared from the shooter. You can’t pick him in matches, you can’t look at his cosmetics in the hero gallery, and even if you’re not playing him, he won’t show up in your pre-match stats when your teammate checks for your hero levels. Blizzard says this is because of “an identified gameplay issue,” and that the plant-based healer will return once a fix is in. Unfortunately, this means that us Lifeweaver mains were forced to go through an entire weekend without gripping our teammates out of danger, and a lot of us are not handling it well.

I typically queue for all roles when playing Overwatch, so I have plenty of heroes I can play until Niran comes back into the fold, but good lord did it hurt when I would land support and have to pick a different character when I just wanted to rain healing flowers onto the field from high ground. My tank might be playing Doomfist or Reinhardt and I just know they’re going to overextend, but I’ll be powerless to rein them in with my viney leash. At least I’m not alone. Now that he’s gone, Lifeweaver mains are coping the only way we can: laughing through it.

One of the funniest consequences of Lifeweaver being pulled out of the game on a random Friday was that apparently some people lost access to the character in the middle of competitive matches, forcing them to suddenly play a different hero during ongoing games.
