Lego celebrated this year's Mario Day by revealing that, after years of fan requests, Nintendo's mascot will become a minifigure. He won't be the only character from the Mushroom Kingdom to get the minifigure treatment either. Official images of the first eight Mario minifigure sets have been revealed, confirming which characters have made the cut.
Mario is, of course, the headliner, and he will have multiple minifigure variants across the various sets. A standard Mario minifigure is included with the Racing with Mario, Mario Pipe Jump, and Yoshi at Mario's House sets. There's also a Fire Mario minifigure that will be included with the Bowser's Castle set, and a shirtless Mario in the Mario's Beach Adventures set.

There's no Super Mario Bros. without Mario's brother, Luigi. The green brother appears in two of the upcoming minifigure sets: Luigi & Bowser Jr's Race, where he is, naturally, accompanied by the first-ever Bowser Jr. minifigure, and the Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle set, where a fire flower version of Luigi is pitted against a Koopa Troopa minifigure.
The Koopa Troopa minifigure is also included in the aforementioned Bowser's Castle set. He and Fire Mario are joined by Bowser and Princess Peach figures in what will be the most expensive of the eight sets revealed, with an MSRP of $99.99. Bowser also appears in the Bowser's Rumbling Race set alongside Toad and Goomba minifigures.
The Goomba figure appears pretty frequently across the eight sets, which is fair, I guess, since after Mario it's the first character you see in the original Super Mario Bros.
