As Take-Two seeks IP addresses and phone numbers of thousands in GTA 6 subpoena, Discord says it's not been served the order just yet

Take-Two's legal teams seem to be scouring the digital landscape for the identity of one Cyberleek—a leaker that's been making cryptocurrency bank from a copy of Grand Theft Auto 6, releasing footage of a development build to the internet and sticking their tongue out at Strauss Zelnick.

It's been a chaotic mess, and one Take-Two is keen to rectify. The publisher has requested subpoenas from both Microsoft and Discord, the scope of which has some players concerned about the privacy of their accounts.

Specifically in this document, obtained by The Verge, wherein Take-Two is requesting "all identifying information associated with all user accounts that are/were members communicating with the Discord server(s) listed below during the time period from June 1, 2026 to present."

The information includes "the account ID, registration email, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone number, linked connections (Google/Xbox/etc.), any associated device identifiers (MachineGuid/MSA), and content related to Grand Theft Auto ('GTA'), Rockstar or Cyberleek from their OneDrive account."

While I'm not exactly shocked that Take-Two is scouring the internet for the leaker, this does seem like a grim reminder that absolutely nothing you do on the world wide web is anonymous—and if the subpoena goes through, Take-Two could be handed the personal information of thousands.

At the time of writing, the Discord server ! Odyssey has around 5,600 members, while DarkViperAU, a content creator, has over 100,000 members. None of which I would blame for being uncomfortable about Take-Two getting their hands on their personal information, regardless of whether they're in the wrong or not.
